Being a women, looking professional yet stunningly fashionable at your workplace can be challenging. This is one of the main problems that many women face in their professional life. Finding the right balance is extremely important along with looking competent and professional. You can always get all glamorous on those Saturday nights but for work, choosing a soft and subtle look is the goal.

The perfect trick to achieve a professional look is to find a way to project your natural beauty. Make an effort to stand out in your workplace with your appearance and make an impression with a professional look.

To get started, here are some ground rules you need to remember to have a workplace safe look

  1. Being professional means less touch ups before going for a meeting.
  2. It must be low maintenance and shouldn’t mess up in those sleeping till late days.
  3. It shouldn’t distract people. You want people to listen to you instead of being mesmerized by a hot red lip gloss.
  4. You should feel comfortable or it’s all for naught!

With that said, how do you maintain a professional look at your workplace? There are three parts of your face you must focus on when doing your makeup: the eyes, the cheeks and the lips. Always remember that you need to keep it natural so instead of a foundation, use a moisturizer and BB cream. Once, you are done with the base, let’s discuss your next steps.

  • The eyes

There are a number of products that can be applied on the eyes. However, before moving on to the shades, use a suitable primer to make sure the eye shadow sticks on the eye lid. Your base should be matte finish so you don’t have oily skin. Use setting powder to give a matte look to your skin and use blotting paper for after lunches and those hot days.

Once done with your base, use matte colors for a subtle shade on your eyes. I usually use browns, bronzes, light pinks, and greys for a soft touch. Once you are done, use eyeliner and mascara to finish the eyes. Make sure that every product used in your makeup is waterproof to avoid smudging.

Next, finish with the eyebrows as they frame your face. Keeping them neat and tidy is worthwhile, but make sure you don’t overdo them. Use a natural brown color or perhaps something that suits your hair color. Keep them of a natural shape and not to archy as it can make you look rude.

  • The cheeks

Blush should enhance your face. Don’t use anything shimmery but a sheer color that can be built upon. It helps in avoiding any blush accidents in the morning. You can use light pink, or for darker skin, a little mix of brighter pink and orange-brown can do the trick. It gives the cheek a nice lift and color.

  • The lips

The first step you need to take when doing your makeup to keep the skin moisturized. A nude shade or a rosy pink does the perfect job of keeping a subtle professional look. You can use lip tints which also works best for a subtle blush. Give yourself a gorgeous professional look to make sure you can stand out at your workplace.

Preparation is always essential. Most times, people prepare their weekday looks on a weekend. Decide on what you have to wear throughout the week, so you don’t have to rush through your closet in the morning. Keep your brushes and makeup products in your bag, so you don’t have to ask others for a touch up. Save your time for more minutes sleeping, and don’t rush to your work.
